Need to determine the storage capacity needed for packet capture forensic analysis? This handy calculator converts bps and utilization into Gigabytes(GB) and Terabytes(TB) of storage. ( Calculates for 1 hour - GB, 24 hours - TB, 4 days - TB and 7 days - TB of storage).

The calculator uses average bandwidth utilization and assume full duplex send receive traffic at that rate of utilization.

Obviously, the system deployed to capture must support the capture and write to disk rates calculated.

Percent Utilization Factor Speed bps

1024 GB = 1 Terabyte

Note: The calculator computes storage as an operating system such as Windows would calculate.
